Come join us for an Adventure of a Lifetime, and delve deep into the depths of the ancient Karijini Landscape. This majestic and rugged landscape, steeped in indigenous history, is located in the remote Pilbara Region of Western Australia, and harbours unique geological formations, flora and fauna found nowhere else on the planet. The canyons we will be travelling through have been carved out by water over millions of years and expose some of the oldest rocks and fossils on earth. This fragile environment undergoes dramatic changes each wet season, as vast volumes of water cascade through the canyons. Be one of the few that have done all 5 parts of the class 6 restricted canyons back to back, add to this parts of 4 non restricted canyons of spectacular beauty and a Mount Bruce Summit Hike, stunning red earth punctuated by yellows and greens, turquoise waters and magnificent sunsets and sunrises, and you have yourself a once in a lifetime adventure.

Both the above dates would need to meet minimum number requirements to proceed. This can either be in the form of an entire party, comprising of you and your family/friends, OR a party made of individuals or smaller groups.
We need at least 6 people per trip, to make this adventure happen, and can take up to 10 people each trip.

This trip is open to anyone, even if you have not been on an adventure with us, or have no previous abseiling experience, so you can invite your family and/or friends who have as yet not joined us. The minimum age is 14, unless this person can convince me that they are capable of the trip, which can be decided on the training day. There is no maximum age (the oldest person we have taken through Karijini to date is 84). You do need a relatively good level of fitness for this trip. Please contact us if you have any doubts about your level of fitness.

Everyone coming on this trip would need to come out for a full day of abseil with us (even if you have done an abseil session with us already). This training day is included in the price.
If on the training day it turns out that either we feel, or you feel, that this is not for you, a full refund will be issued, minus $250 for the training day & administration fees.

The trip would be comprised of 5 canyons/gorges with 4 of these being in part restricted class 6, Red Gorge being entirely class 6, and a Mount Bruce Summit Hike, as listed in the order below. The entire trip would be over 5 days.

FUN FACT: Canyon & Gorge are interchangeable, both meaning formed by water erosion over time. To travel through either is called Canyoning ;)

TOUR ITINERARY

This itinerary may vary slightly depending on environmental circumstances, client needs, park closures and/or road conditions.

Training Day: Mountain Quarry Boya - Date to be confirmed; 0900 - 1300 approximately

As part of this tour and to prepare each participant, a full training in Perth prior to the tour departure is included. During this session, we will learn to abseil and via ferrata. This day will be fully catered.

DAY 1. Travel & Arrive

The first day would be comprised of a flight from Perth to Paraburdoo Airport, we drive approximately 1.5 hours to the Karijini Eco Retreat to settle into our accomodation and get ready for dinner. Over dinner we will provide a comprehensive briefing of the adventures ahead.

If you are driving, we will meet you at the Karijini Eco Retreat.

DAY 2. Weano Descent

We enter this stunning gorge and journey to Handrail Pool, using our tubes and hand paddles, to paddle to the entrance of Jade Pool (aptly named due to its jade coloured water). This is the entrance to the class 6 part of this gorge. We then via ferrata along an edge above Jade Pool and travel to the Amphitheatre for morning tea. We will then hook in for the 45m Waterfall descent!!! This awesome waterfall plunges deep into the heart of Karijini. Once at the bottom we will break for lunch. We then paddle across Junction Pool, where we exit via the Centre of the Earth, up the Chute with a hand line, and climb out on ropes (approximately 10m) on to a ledge overlooking the stunning Jimmy Regan's Pool. We then via ferrata along the ledge to Kermit's Pool, to exit via the Spider Walk and the rest of Hancock Gorge.

DAY 3. Joffre Journey

This stunning gorge is only operated by us, and we believe it is the hidden jewel of Karijini ;) It is the longest trip we will do, and requires the whole day 0800-1700 to complete.

We walk into the gorge from the Eco Retreat, from class 2 to a water jump into class 6, and spend the day paddling our tubes for the entire length of this amazing gorge, which includes waterfalls, beautiful red banded ironstone walls up to 100m high, turquoise crystal clear waters, wildlife, serenity and the ancient ambiance that is Karijini. We will stop at the base of Enchanted Gorge Waterfall for lunch. We then exit the same way we did the previous day, via Junction Pool, Centre of the Earth, and Hancock Gorge.

This is a full day and you will be one of the very few that have done this amazing adventure ;)

DAY 4. Red Gorge Adventure

This will complete the class 6 canyon part of our Karijini Adventure, with an awesome water slide into Knox Gorge, followed by a small abseil (approx. 8m) into Red Gorge, where we will spend most of the day paddling the entire length of the gorge to Junction Pool, having lunch along the way at the base of Weano Waterfall, and exit the same way as the other two trips...which is a view we don't believe you will tire of ;)

We will also have a quick look around the corner up Wittenoom Gorge, which is a multi-day Canyoning, Bushwalking & Camping trip we are working on. This might entice you to join us in the future ;)

DAY 5. Mount Bruce Hike, & Return to Perth

On the last day we will hike to the summit summit of Mount Bruce. This will afford us an awesome panoramic view of the Park and the Pilbara landscape. We will have a packed breakfast for this trip, as we will depart before sunrise and have breakfast on the summit.

Following our hike, we will depart Mount Bruce and drive to Paraburdoo to catch our flight back to Perth.

*Note that itinerary is subject to change based on weather conditions and other situational circumstances. Changes will be communicated and negotiated as a group. We as hosts, will always endeavor to provide the best outcomes for our guests.

Karijini Orginal Reviews

Angela Pui

“There are no words to describe the beauty of the gorges. Canyoning through the Class 6 gorges was the adventure of a lifetime! Sven’s customer service was fast and clear and he was very helpful when I needed advice regarding the trip to Karijini.

I’m not a lover of deep water, but Sven and other group members were supportive and great fun to be with.

Sven really helped me to feel safe throughout the whole trip.”

“Going on tour with Spacechameleon is definitely the way to immerse in the true beauty and rawness of Karijini.

Having Sven and Andreas as our experienced guides allowed us to enter the restricted areas of the gorges not seen by most, providing our group with our own private hidden paradise to explore over the 3 days of canyoning.

Sven and Andreas made the group feel comfortable and safe at all times, whilst providing a unique and adventure filled experience. I wouldn't have seen even a quarter of what we got to experience in Karijini if I'd gone by myself, and it was well worth joining this tour. Would definitely recommend.”

"10/10 - Karijini Adventure Trip.

An experience of a lifetime.
Wow wow wow! What an incredible trip with amazing guides.
I could not fault this trip one bit. I had the best experience right from the time of booking this trip. Sven was friendly, helpful and easy to get a long with.
The abseiling training day was fantastic and gave you a chance to meet the other incredible guides and some of the group in your trip.

Arriving in Karijini we were met with infectious smiles Sven and Andreas who delivered a great briefing of what we were to experience over the coming days, and boy they did not disappoint. Everything from the safety to the food and company was spot on.

I was in total awe of the beauty that is Karijini and to be able to experience the class 6 gorges, abseil down a waterfall and go down a waterfall slide was just next level. This trip surpassed my expectations.

I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a bit of adventure and an experience of a lifetime. I can't wait to go back again with the crew!"
