Abseiling

Abseiling off the Jetty at the start of the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk is a new venture which Spacechameleon Adventure Co is trialing at this site. As well as providing a new activity for the Tree Top Walk, it gives you another kind of adrenaline fix to add to your Tree Top Walk experience. Climbing up a ladder and over the handrail, is not something that you can normally do at the Tree Top Walk ... but attached to a rope and in a harness, this becomes a safe and fun activity, one that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. As long as the harness and helmet fits, you have a reasonable level of fitness and sense of adventure ... this is for you :)

One abseil takes approx. 5 minutes and is approx. 10 metres. Gear fitting and filling in the regsiter, approximately 10 minutes.

Prices:

Children under 16yrs: $20.00* for two abseils

Adults: $25.00* for two abseils

*Prices subject to change

Tree Climbing

Ascending into the lofty heights of an ancient Karri Tree on a rope is a tough little challenge, but so worth the effort. Spacechameleon Adventure Co brings commercial tree climbing to Western Australia. The climbing of trees is something that most of us have done at some stage in our lives ... and if you haven't yet ... now is your chance :) This is an amazing opportunity to come hang out ... literally ... and experience a unique and new perspective of the forest and the Valley of the Giants. Ascend on a rope 25m or 40m using mechanical ascenders, go as high as you like and enjoy the view amongst the trees and over the Valley of the Giants. Once you have reached your desired height ... relax for a bit and Spacechameleon Adventure Co staff will lower you safely back to the ground.

The length of ascent is dependant on your ability and limited to 15 minutes on the rope per person for the 40m tree, and 10 minutes on the rope for the 25m tree. Gear fitting and filling in the register, approximately 10 minutes.

small Tree (25m)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), for the activities at the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk

How high is the abseil?

Approx. 10 metres

How long will the abseil take?

Approx. 5 minutes, but you will need to leave time for a harness and helmet fitting and filling the register, so 15 minutes at least.

How long does the tree-climbing take?

Depending on level of fitness and capability, approx 10 minutes, but you will need to leave time for a harness and helmet fitting and filling in the register, so 20 minutes at least.

How high are the trees? How high will I climb?

One is approx. 25 metres high, and another 40 metres high. You climb as high as you like within the 10 minutes alotted to your climb, after this we lower you down.

How will I get down once I'm at the top of the tree, or if I'm scared or change my mind half way?

At any point staff can lower you safely back to the ground.

Is it safe?

YES!! All gear and equipment is checked daily and only trained staff operate Spacechameleon Adventure Co adventure activities.

Is there an age limit?

No. As long as the harness and helmet fit you and you are reasonably fit and capable, anyone can do this. Please keep these conditions in mind and come talk to us if you have any concerns prior to purchasing your ticket.

Can anyone do this?

Yes! See above.

What shall I wear?

We do realise that you are on holidays and may not be wearing the most appropriate shoes or clothing for roping, but we will try to accommodate you as best we can. The tree climbing can be done pretty much in any footwear, except high heels. It can be done barefoot, but please keep in mind it may not be very comfortable on your feet!

The abseil requires enclosed footwear. Thongs will not afford you enough security and stability to do this activity ... Sorry.

As far as clothing, as long as you’re comfortable and can move, anything but a whalebone corset should work :)

What happens if I change my mind?

As with all things we aim to be fair, but you need to also appreciate that time has already been spent fitting your harness, processing your payment, and getting you to this point. This time spent also means someone else has missed out. No refund will be given due to these circumstances. But to be fair, once you have purchased your ticket, you can come back later on the same day and try again. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
